Each fall, car manufacturers around the world release their fleet of cool new cars for the next model year. With the new 2019 models coming soon, let’s take a look back at the hottest supercars released in 2018.
New Supercars for 2018
2018 Porsche 911 Carrera T
After 50 years, Porsche has revamped the integrity of its 1968 911 Carrera T. The fastest 911 ever is built for speed as the lightest model within the Carrera lineup. Its top speed is 180-182 mph, depending on the transmission. Sounds like the perfect Porsche for Jerry Seinfeld.
2018 Audi R8 V10 Plus
Audi introduced the second generation of the R8 with the 2018 model; the first generation came out in 2006. The R8 V10 Plus is Audi’s version of the sports car; the Plus is the fastest road car that Audi has built. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, up to 124 mph in 9.9 seconds, and it has a top speed of 205 mph. Audi has perfected the sensible-yet-luxurious feel in its vehicles, so driving to your normal 9-5 in this supercar wouldn’t be out of place.
2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante
What makes the Huracan Performante a greater machine than its predecessor, the Huracan, is its aerodynamic frame. When the car cuts through the air, it filters the air through to push it even faster. The Huracan can reach 60 mph in under three seconds. This use of aerodynamics was banned by racing leagues years ago, but Lamborghini has done us all a favor by bringing it back.
2018 Mercedes-AMG GT
This coupe carries a V8 engine running on 577 horsepower. It can achieve a top speed of 198 mph. The new design for this model is both pleasing to the eye and powerful in performance. It looks like a supercar with the elegance of a sophisticated coupe, yet it’s all built to perform like a sports car.
2018 Bugatti Chiron
The new edition of this Bugatti supercar is faster than its previous models. Its top speed is 288 mph and can reach 60 mph in 2.5 seconds with no problem. The price tag is a mere $2.8 million, making it one of the most expensive and fastest cars in the world. The Chiron uses specially designed Michelin tires that can withstand speeds of 260 mph; combined with the Bugatti’s luxuriously comfortable interiors, this vehicle is a pleasure to drive.
2018 Ferrari California T
Considered an “entry-level” model, Ferrari’s redesigned grand tourer now features a twin-turbocharged engine. It does 0-60 mph in 3.6 mph and has a top speed of 196 mph. Within 14 seconds, this supercar can store its top away, letting you feel the rush of the open road. The California T is designed for easy daily use, making it one of Ferrari’s softer creations.
2018 McLaren 570S
Available in two models, Coupe and Spider, McLaren puts the 570s in its “sports series” rather than the “super series.” The coupe can go from zero to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, then onto 124 mph in 9.9 seconds. The spider gives its driver the feel the wind with its open top. Out of all other sports cars on the market, the McLaren 570S offers more comfort than the others.
2018 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
The British manufacturer has designed this model to sit low to the ground, looking sleek and powerful. The Vantage features a 4 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with the capability to reach speeds up to 195 mph. The Vantage will be considered Aston Martin’s entry-level model, likely in an attempt to snag the interests for fans of similar makes like Porsche and BMW.
2018 Maserati GranTurismo MC
While the GranTurismo is over 70 years old, Maserati continues to deliver with this model. It’s timeless; a classic supercar to choose. The MC has a top speed of 187 mph and a V8 engine with 454 horsepower. The GranTurismo has been a hot choice since 1947, and the 2018 is no exception.
2018 Jaguar F-Type SVR
This coupe has a top speed of 200 mph, reaching 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. The frame has a muscle car look, but it’s a sleek supercar nonetheless. What makes this supercar such a joy to drive is the engine’s roar as you race off from the curb.
